Lindsey Vonn has been posing naked to promote her new book, published this Tuesday October 4th, 'Strong Is The New Beautiful!'
The book contains lessons from 31-year old Vonn, the world's most successful ever female skier (and by some measures the world's most successful ever skier of either gender), on strength, fitness, food, and attitude.
According to the book's blurb, Vonn wants women to stop thinking about "losing weight fast," and instead focus on loving their bodies for what they are and what they can do.
Vonn posed in a 'painted on' swimsuit last season from Sports Illustrated magazine causing consternation from some feminist groups.
Vonn however argued that she was not being exploited but exercising her rights to reveal what a healthy body looks like.
The latest photoshoot is for People magazine.
"Lindsey is a small-town Minnesota girl at heart turned world-champion skier, but that didn't come without hard work. In Strong Is the New Beautiful, Lindsey lays out the never-before-seen training routines and her overall philosophy that have helped her become the best female skier in the world—tailored for women of all shapes and sizes," a statement from the book's publishers says.
Lindsey Vonn has won four World Cup overall championships—one of only two female skiers to do so, and won the gold medal in downhill at the 2010 Winter Olympics, the first ever American woman to do so. She has also won a record eight World Cup season titles in downhill, five titles in super-G, and three in combined. In 2016 she won her 20th World Cup crystal globe title - an all-time record among men or women, passing Ingemar Stenmark of Sweden, who won 19.
Vonn is also one of six women to have won World Cup races in all five disciplines of alpine skiing – downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom, and super combined – and has won 76 World Cup races in her career, an all-time women's record, and only Ingemar Stenmark of Sweden with 86 World Cup victories has more.
