Swiss Areas Open As Snowstorm Hits
Swiss Areas Open As Snowstorm Hits

Three more Swiss glacier ski areas are scheduled to open today just as a major snowstorm hits the area.
Crans Montana, Engelberg and the Diavolezza glacier near St Moritz in the Engadin region all say they'll open for snowsports for the first time for the 2016-17 ski season this morning.
It comes as the two already open Swiss glaciers coincidentally decide to increase the ski area each of them currently has open.
The new openings and expanded terrain also coincide with the biggest snowstorm yet this autumn hitting Swiss peaks, with the most excited forecasts predicting up to a metre could fall by Monday on upper runs, although the ski areas themselves say a mere 60cm (two feet) is more likely.
Zermatt say they're opening runs on the Furggsattel glacier this morning meaning there'll be a choice of 27 runs open at the area.
Saas-Fee (pictured abovew before the storm hit) say they'll be opening runs and lifts further down the mountain increasing the skiable vertical down to the mid-station at Morenia.
