Western North America is continuing to make up lost ground after the poor start to the 17-18 season with ore huge March snowfalls.
The Tahoe region is being particularly dumped on with Squaw Valley reporting 1m of snow in the past 24 hours, 2m in the past 72 hours and nearly 5m since the start of the month – several times the amount that fell in the first three months of the season.
Squaw set an all time snowfall record in January 2017 at more than 7 metres in the one month, but says that snowfall so far in March is tracking ahead of that January total last season. The next few days are now scheduled to be sunny, but with more snow expected later this week.
Squaw, which stayed open to July last year, now has a 4m base.
Other resorts in the Tahoe region, across California and further west towards Utah have had huge snowfalls too.
