Val Thorens has joined Whistler Blackcomb in being amongst the few ski areas worldwide to offer multiple zip lining experiences.
Val Thorens made headlines back in 2014 when it opened the highest zipwire in Europe at around 3,2000m above sea level.
The new zip line, christened 'The BEE', is lower down and actually takes riders over Val Thorens itself. It's also longer, at 1.8km compared to 1.3km for the original line, but the new lines are split into three separate rides.
They are also dual cables so two people can ride or race alongside one another.
The descent begins at the top of the Moutière chair lift and land at the heart of Val Thorens Place Caron.
Travelling up to 65 metres above the ski slopes users whizz down at average speeds of 65km per hour (compared to 100kph on the original line).
Zip lines are a major year-round attraction in ski resorts and they don't come cheap. Val Thorens' lift company, SETAM, has invested 1.2 million Euros in 'The BEE'
Open to over 14s only it costs €35 per person to ride compared to €50 per person on the original zipline. A video souvenir filmed by GoPro is offered.
