New Gondola For Niseko

Niseko is to unveil a new gondola next winter, with a second stage of the lift set to follow a year later for winter 27-28. The resort will also replace one of the world's few remaining old single chairlifts with a double chair as part of the upgrades.

The new lifts are going in above Niseko Village, one of the multiple areas that make up the Niseko United interlinked ski area, Japan's best known ski destination.

Replacing the Mori-no Chair, which has been operating on the route for more than four decades, the new Mori-no Gondola will feature sleek cabins that more than double uplift capacity. Divided into two sections with an intermediate station, the gondola will have 86 cabins. They will include four VIP cabins will feature tables for light dining, while two glass-floor cabins so user can look down on Niseko's snow-covered landscape below.

Niseko's Wonderland Chair will also undergo a significant upgrade, transitioning from a single-seat lift to a two-person chairlift, further improving mountain access and circulation. Altogether five older lifts will be replaced by the two new ones.
"Together, these enhancements will reduce waiting times, improve safety and provide guests with greater flexibility as they explore the mountain," a spokesperson for the resort said.
