Font Romeu

Font Romeu is a premier ski resort in the French Pyrenees. Known for its sunny weather, it offers diverse terrain for all skill levels.

 Summary

Font Romeu boasts over 40 kilometers of skiable terrain, making it one of the largest ski areas in the region. The resort features 37 slopes, ranging from beginner to advanced, and is well-equipped with modern lifts.

The ski area of Font Romeu is in the French Pyrenees at an altitude of 1,600m, with 52km of marked runs.

Font Romeu is part of the Neiges Catalanes ski area with access to 203 marked pistes, served by a total of 119 ski lifts. In addition to the skiing in Font Romeu itself (52km of pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Neiges Catalanes ski resorts of Bolquère Pyrénées 2000, Cambre d'Aze, Cerdagne Puigmal, Formiguères, La Quillane, Les Angles, Porté Puymorens and Puyvalador.

The ski resort itself is at 1,600m, so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible. With ski lifts as high as 2,200m, snow cover is generally reliable.

Skiing

The ski area is part of the Pyrénées 2000 and features a maximum elevation of 2,250 meters. Notable pistes include the long blue run, La Coma, and the challenging black run, Les Boulevards, serviced by lifts like the Télécabine des Airelles and the Télésiège des Esquits.

Font Romeu offers good sking, particularly, for Intermediate and Beginner skiers.

How to get there

 By Air

The nearest airport to Font Romeu is Perpignan, 82 minutes drive away.

Carcassonne, Toulouse, Barcelona, Béziers, Girona and Montpellier airports are all within three hours drive.

Font Romeu is easily accessible via major airports like Perpignan and Toulouse, with driving routes via the A9 and N116. Regular shuttle services connect these airports to the resort.

The 25 ski lifts are able to uplift 18,000 skiers and snowboarders every hour.

Snow Making

Snow-making is available, on 21km of ski runs, with 500 snow cannons.

When is Font Romeu open?

Usual opening is late November, and usual closing is Early April.

After skiing, Font Romeu offers vibrant après-ski options. Notable spots include La Cabane, known for its lively atmosphere, and Le Café de la Gare, perfect for a relaxed drink.
