The ski area of Valmorel is in the French Alps at an altitude of 1,400m, with 165km of marked runs.

Valmorel is part of the Le Grand Domaine ski area with access to 167 marked pistes, served by a total of 38 ski lifts. In addition to the skiing in Valmorel itself (165km of pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Le Grand Domaine ski resorts of Doucy-Combelouvière and St François Longchamp. Valmorel is directly linked by Ski Lift to the ski areas of Doucy-Combelouvière and St François Longchamp.

With ski lifts as high as 2,550m, skiing and snowboarding is assured throughout the season.

The longest possible descent in Valmorel is 4km long and the most difficult run is the 'Riondet', which is 3km in length.

Skiing

The Valmorel ski area spans the Grand Domaine, with peaks reaching up to 2,832 meters. Notable pistes include the long blue run 'Les Lanchettes' and the challenging black run 'Le Grand Pic,' serviced by lifts such as the 'Pierrafort' and 'Méribel' gondolas.

There are a variety of pistes to suit all levels of skier ability, from Beginner to Expert.

How to get there

 By Air

The nearest airport to Valmorel is Chambery, 60 minutes drive away.

Grenoble, Annecy, Lyon St-Exupéry, Lyon Bron, Geneva, Sion, Saint-Étienne and Turin Caselle airports are all within three hours drive.

Chambery is just one hours drive away, in good driving conditions, so you can be on the piste quickly.

To reach Valmorel, the nearest major airports are Chambéry and Geneva, both offering regular transfers. From these airports, the resort is accessible by car or shuttle services.

The 46 ski lifts are able to uplift 51,000 skiers and snowboarders every hour.

Snow-making is available, on 35km of ski runs, with 396 snow cannons.

Season Dates

When is Valmorel open?

We don't currently have confirmed season dates, but hope to soon.

Usual opening is mid December, and usual closing is Mid April.

NOTE:- Ski area, lift and piste opening is subject to Current Snow Conditions.

Aprés Ski

Après-ski in Valmorel includes lively spots like 'Le Pub' and 'La Fée des Neiges,' where you can enjoy drinks and music. For dining, 'La Table de l'Ours' offers a cozy atmosphere with traditional French cuisine.
