Gargellen is a charming ski resort nestled in the Montafon valley. It offers a tranquil atmosphere combined with diverse skiing options for all levels.

The ski area of Gargellen is in the Austrian Alps at an altitude of 1,420m, with 36km of marked runs.

Gargellen is part of the Montafon ski area with access to 44 marked pistes, served by a total of 36 ski lifts. In addition to the skiing in Gargellen itself (36km of pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Montafon ski resort of St Gallenkirch.

With ski lifts as high as 2,130m, snow cover is generally reliable.

Skiing

Gargellen features the highest ski area in the Montafon, with an elevation of 2,600 meters and over 40 kilometers of varied pistes. Notable runs include the challenging 'Schwarze Wand' and the scenic 'Gargellen' descent, serviced by efficient lifts like the 'Gargellner Bahn' and 'Schafberg-Bahn'.

Gargellen offers good sking, particularly, for Intermediate and Beginner skiers.

How to get there

 By Air

The nearest airport to Gargellen is St. Gallen-Altenrhein, 63 minutes drive away.

Friedrichshafen, Memmingen, Innsbruck Airport, Zurich, Lugano, Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, Stuttgart, Munich and Basel airports are all within three hours drive.

St. Gallen-Altenrhein is just one hours drive away, in good driving conditions, so you can be on the piste quickly.

Gargellen is easily accessible, with the nearest airports being Innsbruck and Friedrichshafen. Travellers can reach the resort by car, taking the A14 motorway and following local signs to the Montafon valley.

Ski Lift Capacity

The eight ski lifts are able to uplift 8,400 skiers and snowboarders every hour.

Snow Making

Snow-making is available, with 50 snow cannons.

When is Gargellen open?

We don't currently have confirmed season dates, but hope to soon.

Usual opening is early December, and usual closing is Mid April.

NOTE:- Ski area, lift and piste opening is subject to Current Snow Conditions.

Aprés Ski

The après-ski scene in Gargellen is cozy and inviting, with popular spots like the 'Bergrestaurant' for hearty meals and 'Schafberg Bar' for drinks and relaxation. The nightlife is low-key but enjoyable, perfect for unwinding after a day on the slopes.
