La Mongie

La Mongie is a popular ski resort located in the French Pyrenees. It offers a diverse range of slopes and breathtaking mountain views.

 Summary

La Mongie boasts over 100 kilometers of ski runs and is part of the larger Grand Tourmalet ski area, the largest in the Pyrenees. With a top elevation of 2,500 meters, the resort provides varied terrain suitable for all skill levels.

The ski area of La Mongie is in the French Pyrenees at an altitude of 1,800m, with 120km of marked runs.

La Mongie is part of the Tourmalet ski area with access to 138 marked pistes, served by a total of 43 ski lifts. In addition to the skiing in La Mongie itself (120km of pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Tourmalet ski resort of Barèges. La Mongie is directly linked by Ski Lift to the ski areas of Barèges.

The ski resort itself is at 1,800m, so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible. With ski lifts as high as 2,500m, snow cover is generally reliable.

The longest possible descent in La Mongie is 5km long and the most difficult run is the 'Prade Berde'.

Skiing

The mountains surrounding La Mongie feature a mix of challenging and beginner-friendly pistes. Key areas include the famous Col du Tourmalet, with notable runs like the Longue and the Bergerie. The resort is served by modern lifts, including the Télésiège de la Mongie and the Télécabine du Taoulet, ensuring efficient access to the slopes.

La Mongie offers good sking, particularly, for Intermediate and Beginner skiers.

How to get there

 By Air

The nearest airport to La Mongie is Lourdes, 56 minutes drive away.

Pau, Toulouse, Biarritz, Carcassonne and San Sebastián airports are all within three hours drive.

Lourdes is just one hours drive away, in good driving conditions, so you can be on the piste quickly.

La Mongie is accessible via major transport routes. The nearest airports are Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées and Toulouse-Blagnac, with shuttle services available for convenient transfers to the resort.

Ski Lift Capacity

The 33 ski lifts are able to uplift 18,000 skiers and snowboarders every hour.

Snow Making

Snow-making is available, on 50km of ski runs, with 170 snow cannons.

Season Dates

When is La Mongie open?

We don't currently have confirmed season dates, but hope to soon.

Usual opening is early December, and usual closing is Early April.

NOTE:- Ski area, lift and piste opening is subject to Current Snow Conditions.

Aprés Ski

After a day on the slopes, La Mongie offers a lively après-ski scene. Notable spots include Le Café de la Plage for drinks and La Grange for dining, providing a cozy atmosphere to unwind.
