Zinal

 Summary

Zinal, located in the Val d'Anniviers, is a picturesque ski resort known for its breathtaking views and excellent snow conditions. The resort features a variety of slopes, making it an ideal destination for families and seasoned skiers alike.

The ski area of Zinal is in the Swiss Alps at an altitude of 1,670m, with 70km of marked runs.

Zinal is part of the Sierre-Anniviers ski area with access to 80 marked pistes, served by a total of 51 ski lifts. In addition to the skiing in Zinal itself (70km of pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Sierre-Anniviers ski resorts of Chandolin, Grimentz, St-Luc and Vercorin.

The ski resort itself is at 1,670m, so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible. With ski lifts as high as 2,910m, skiing and snowboarding is assured throughout the season.

 Notable Ski Runs

The longest possible descent in Zinal is 7km long and the most difficult run is the 'Descente de l'aigle', which is 7km in length.

Skiing

The Zinal ski area is part of the larger Val d'Anniviers region, boasting over 70 km of pistes at elevations ranging from 1,670 to 2,900 meters. Notable runs include the long red run from the top of the Zinalrothorn and access to the Grimentz area via the Zinal-Ferret lift.

Zinal offers good sking, particularly, for Expert and Intermediate skiers.

How to get there

 By Air

The nearest airport to Zinal is Sion, 60 minutes drive away.

Geneva, Berne, Annecy and Basel airports are all within three hours drive.

Sion is just one hours drive away, in good driving conditions, so you can be on the piste quickly.

Zinal is accessible via major transport hubs, with Geneva and Sion airports being the closest. From Geneva, a scenic drive of about 2.5 hours leads you to the resort, while Sion is approximately 1 hour away.

The nine ski lifts are able to uplift 9,980 skiers and snowboarders every hour.

Snow-making is available, on 30km of ski runs, with 77 snow cannons.

Season Dates

When is Zinal open?

We don't currently have confirmed season dates, but hope to soon.

Usual opening is early December, and usual closing is Mid April.

NOTE:- Ski area, lift and piste opening is subject to Current Snow Conditions.

Aprés Ski

After a day on the slopes, Zinal offers a cozy après-ski scene with popular spots like the Hotel Zinal's bar and the Café des Alpes. For dining, La Montagne serves delicious local cuisine, while nightlife options remain low-key but inviting.
